Jeff
Maupin's Bio
Jeff
started his racing career in 1998 racing in the UMP open wheel
modified division. In only 7 starts that season, Jeff had two
top 5 finishes in '98.
In
1999, Jeff was the open wheel Rookie of the Year at Volunteer
Speedway. he had one win in 16 starts. Also in 1999, Jeff took
the same car and raced at Kingsport Speedway, a concrete track,
on Friday nights. He also had a win at Kingsport.
Jeff
was voted the Most Popular Driver of the year for 2000 at Kingsport
Speedway. While racing at both Kingsport and Volunteer, Jeff picked
up 7 wins in 22 starts, 14 top 5 finishes, and 17 top 10 finishes.
In
2001, Jeff was the Tennessee State Champion in the UMP open wheel
modified division. He also finished 4th in UMP state points in
Virginia. Jeff also won 3 races in 3 starts at Hickory Speedway
in North Carolina. He was once again voted the Most Popular Driver
at Kingsport Speedway. In 37 starts, he won 27 races, had 29 top
5 finishes, and 31 top 10 finishes.
Jeff
moved up to the super late model division in 2002 at Volunteer
Speedway where he was the track's Rookie of the Year. He won his
first SLM feature in just his 8th start at Golden Mountain Speedway
in Sparta, Tennessee.
Due
to limited funds, Jeff only raced in 10 races in 2003 where he
had 3 poles and six top 5 finishes.
Jeff
was voted the Most Popular Driver of the year in the super late
model division at Volunteer Speedway in 2004. In 21 starts, he
won 4 features, won 9 poles, and had 13 top five finishes. During
the inaugural tour of the World of Outlaws Late Model series,
Jeff won one heat race during WoO action at Volunteer Speedway
and finished second in a WoO heat race at Atomic Speedway. Jeff
also had one pole position in the O'Reilly Southern All-Stars
at Tazewell Speedway.
Jeff
only had 12 stars in 2005 due to the team he was driving for having
limited funds.
In
2006, Jeff started driving for Vic Hill late in the season. He
started 11 races and had four top 5 finishes at Volunteer Speedway.
Jeff
won 5 features at Volunteer Speedway in 2007 in the super late
model division along with ten top 5 finishes. Jeff also made the
field for the season opening Spring Thaw 100 at Volunteer Speedway.
